英語科のNEWS

北高では９月から、生きた英語でのコミュニケーションや海外の多様な価値観を届けていただく外国語講師の先生が３人になり、英語をリアルに学ぶ環境が整いました。３人の先生にはSSH（スーパーサイエンスハイスクール）の授業にも加わっていただきます。

普通科・理数科・英語科の生徒のみなさん、英語を使ったコミュニケーションはもちろん、先生方の出身国の文化や多様な価値観にも触れながら、北高での学びを楽しんでくださいね。

ケイトリン先生（写真中央）

アメリカ出身。ALTとして５年間勤務された後、特別免許状を取得し、常勤講師として北高に赴任されました。ALTとは異なり単独で授業ができるため、英語科での専門授業の一部をオールイングリッシュで指導していただきます。北高では「英語特別講師」「Special English Instructor（SEIまたはSI）」と呼ぶことにしています。

Hi! My name is Katelyn, and I am from Ohio, USA.  I have lived in Japan for almost five years, and I am excited to continue exploring Japan.  In university I studied Biology and Neuroscience, so I have a passion for helping students with their research.  Whether I am teaching English or Science, I want to inspire students to be curious and ask questions so that they can apply what they learn to their own lives.  I look forward to teaching the students at Kita High School!

アメリカ出身。９月から新規ALTとして北高に赴任されました。以前から海外で教育に携わりたいという希望があり、この度ALTとして日本（熊本）で指導にあたられます。

Hello, everyone! I am Lesya Melnychenko, a new ALT this year.  Before coming to Japan, I worked as a science teacher in Virginia, USA for 9 years.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and a Master's degree in Education.  I love teaching science and language!  I am very excited to fulfil my dream of teaching abroad at Kita High School.  I look forward to a great year ahead!

イギリス出身。北高で２年目のALTとして勤務されています。以前日本に滞在した際に熊本に良い印象を持たれており、その念願が叶って熊本（北高）で指導していただいています。

Hello, I'm Alex.  This is my second year at Kita High School but it's my second time living in Japan.  I love it here!  I am from Belfast, Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom.

I'm originally from China but I've lived in the UK for over 25 years!  I can speak Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, English, German, a little bit of French and I'm learning Japanese!  I have a degree in Computing & IT and Design, specialising in Web design/software development.  I love technology and sports (especially football/soccer and Formula 1).  Cheers to a good time!
